Technical information
The BZW04- Transil diode provides high overvoltage protection by clamping action. The instantaneous response to transients makes it particularly suited to protect voltage sensitive devices such as MOS Technology and low voltage supplied IC’s. A transient-voltage-suppression diode (Transil) can respond to over-voltages faster than other common over-voltage protection components such as varistors or gas discharge tubes.
Therefore the TRANSIL - Diode is a real alternative to varistor (technical information) and the gas discharge tubes. Bidirectional TRANSILs are used for signals (AC-Voltage), positive and negative.
